Chelsea Clocktower Center
Exterior

The Chelsea Clocktower, a seven-story tower and building in downtown Chelsea, is the most well-known and beloved landmark in the city and was recently renovated to be a mixed-use complex. Visual Entities was selected by McKinley Property to develop a wayfinding system that would fit in with the historic nature of the downtown shopping district but still be as clean and modern as the newly renovated architecture and storefronts.

The Visual Entities design team proposed a wrought iron concept, with design details and decorative elements taken from the patterns found in wrought iron fencing and applied subtly within each piece of signage. Combined with the rich, dark red color and vintage lettering of the signs themselves, the system perfectly complemented the historic brick buildings and lampposts in the area and brought new life with an old-time feel to the revamped Clocktower district.
