When U of M Hospital needed a highly specialized look achieved for their new Cardiovascular Center, they came to Visual Entities to coordinate and manage the installation of this fairly complex interior wayfinding system. The project would require a caring and detail-oriented team to successfully achieve the specified design for this top-quality facility that houses cutting-edge, state-of-the-art medical teams and technology, and Visual Entities’ record of success in this area spoke for itself.
The organization of this system needed to be highly accurate, with details like ensuring that the names for the rooms and room numbers were correct, that they were placed in the right spot, and that arrows were pointing in the right direction. There were also many hard-to-achieve effects for the signage specified, and the Visual Entities team found the proper materials and methods to make those effects work. For example, the soft and calming effect of the freestanding directional sign near the elevators was achieved by using a light, translucent acrylic material and then silkscreening the natural foliage on the front of the sign. This approach helped to meet the project’s goal of creating a calming and healing environment in this groundbreaking new facility.
